what is opmonline?
OPMonline is a web-based content download portal. It contains thousands and thousands of music performed by Filipino artist from the 60's era up to the present.
The website name was coined from the phrase "original pilipino music" or "OPM" and appended the word "online" to represent an element of e-commerce, web and internet.
The web portal was developed by Filipino IT experts from the ground- up, it was painstakingly designed, re-developed, re-invented and continuosly being enhanced to ensure that the user experience is at par with the leading web portals or better. Easy to navigate, user friendly functionalities and rapid page loading to ensure very minimal wait time and fast music downloads.
This is a Filipino website, this our home.

When opmonline established?
OPMOnline was launched last April 30, 2009. It can be accessed by the web addresses www.opmonline.com, www.opmonline.net, www.opmonline.com.ph and opmonline.ph

What are goal or aim of Opmonline?
The objective is to promote our Filipino artist globally. Reach out to all our countrymen around the world and and let them be always "at home" with our own filipino music.

I am a Lyndell John Rivera. a member of Himig Singers Association of Southern Mindanao. Like your group, the Himig Singers shall dedicate themselves to the pursuit of professionalism and excellence in choral performance, with the goal of showcasing the Filipino’s innate musicality and artistry. We are scheduled to go to US on November for a 5 months concert tour and we are trying to find Filipino or American groups/association that are willing to help us.

You can visit the groups website www.himigsingers.org or contact coordinator@himigsingers.org for more information.

Hi, I'm trying to contact Paul Balan. I tried using the contact link on his website but my email bounced. Do you have a way to pass the message below to him?

Thanks for your help,

Mike Maupin

Hi Paul,

I'm hoping you will be able to help me. My name is Mike Maupin. In 1906 my father was born in Manila. His parents were Charles Socrates Maupin and Virginia Consuelo Balan / Maupin. Charles was in the US Army and met and married Virginia while stationed in the Philippines. They moved to the US around 1909 / 10 and never returned to the Philippines. I'm working on a family history project and although I have quite a bit of information on the Maupin side of my family, I know virtually nothing about my heritage from my Grandmother's family.

I've heard that Virginia was born in the Philippine island of Mindanao. Her father may have been a civil servant and mother may have died at childbirth. The story goes that her father remarried, and Virginia had a half-sister. However, I do not know the accuracy of any of this. I do know she was a Catholic.

Do you know if you are related to Virginia? Any help you can give me in recovering this lost family history would really be appreciated. I have to say that the photo of you on your web site looks similar to some of my cousins. I have a photo that I believe is of my Grandmother as a child with (possibly) her sister. I can email it to you if you'd like. I also have a wedding photo of Virginia and Charles.

Thanks for you time,

Mike

My wife and I were contemplating a trip to Los Angeles to visit Little Siagon whcn she mentioned that she wanted to go see Filipinotown. My dad was born in Cardona Rizal, and my mother in San Antonio Texas. Mixed blood.....I was born here in Santa Maria and locally, we have a large Filipino community. When my uncle and dad were alive, they were really involved in the Cardona Club of America and every two years, to this day, hold the annual convention here in Santa Maria for Los Angeles and San Francisco Cardona Clubs. Look forward to visiting Filipino Town as the Manongs of my dad's era are almost all gone..........Great site.

Hi there!

I am a freelance journalist and curator from the Philippines. I'm interested in linking up with US-based Filipino artists or Fil-American artists for research that will possibly lay the groundwork for a book that my curating partner Giselle Kasilag and I are planning on doing.
I'm doing some preliminary Internet searches for now, but would appreciate leads you can give us -- for example, about groups or organizations of Filipino-American artists in different part of the US; maybe regular gatherings that they have; etc.
Any tips you can give us will be most appreciated.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
